From the infant's first cry of birth-shock,
to the dying elder's final gasp before leaving.
The inhalations and exhalations,
breathed life into the body.
You take what you give
and give what you take
and most of the time you're unconscious...
going through the decreed motions.
What you were trained to believe.
What you hoped to achieve.
Where you went,
and if you returned.
Somebody knows your true name.
Somebody sees your soul.
You thought you were hidden,
and thus tried to be seen.
A mind in motion
stays in motion.
An untethered mind
only gets lost in the maze.
Have you given enough?
Have you been given enough?
Have you found or lost your way?
It doesn't matter.
In the end,
you did what you could.
Maybe not the best of all time.
But you breathed.
So breathe your way through the final act.
No more anxious moments,
the stage is finally ephemeral.
And the spotlight will soon fade.
Remember: you got what you gave.
In this prison of sighs.
